The Printing Industries Craftsmanship Awards, otherwise known as the PICAs, are a celebration of excellence across the printing, packaging, and visual communications industries.

The awards recognise the efforts of printers and reward those pieces that exude excellence. Any item that wins a Gold award at these PICAs goes on to compete at the National Print Awards against the other gold winners from each state’s PICAs in the hope to be deemed the ‘best of the best’ in the Country.

This year, there were more than 300 entries and a total of 32 Golds were awarded that will now go on to represent Western Australia at the National Print Awards in April 2012. Scott Print is proud to have won 7 of these 32 Golds, a further 11 Silvers and 8 Bronzes.

The industry celebrated these awards at the PICA ‘Night of Nights’ which this year was held at the Burswood Entertainment Complex. The theme was focussed on the well known sites of South West Western Australia and guests were entertained by Brad Blaze, a speed painter who created three works which were later auctioned. Company Director, Dudley Scott was excited to walk away as proud owner of a new Matthew Pavlich piece of art.
Printing Industries Western Australia General Manager, Paul Nieuwhof, said the PICAs were going from strength to-strength as more companies came to appreciate the value of achieving awards for excellence.

“There is a healthy relationship and awareness between the industry companies entering the awards and the sponsors who help realise them. These are important to our industry on many levels,” he said.

“These range from the interstate rivalry as each competes against their interstate colleagues for recognition at the National Print Awards through to client interaction where companies can showcase the innovation and quality of their workmanship as part of their marketing mix. It’s a win-win for everyone concerned.”

We are proud to have been the most awarded printer on the night, in terms of most Golds received and also the number of awards. Thanks go to all clients, suppliers and staff!

But there is even more excitement at Scott Print. We are pleased to have been given a Certificate of Merit at the American based Benny Awards for the Scott Print 2011 Calendar in the ‘Desk Calendar’ division. Again, we led the way with the highest accolade out of all Western Australian printers, a true testament to our team, suppliers and clients.
